🚫 Walmart now lets you block wasted search terms
LINK
|
- Walmart Connect now lets brands block wasted search terms through "negative keywords," which stop sponsored-products ads from showing when a shopper's query matches an excluded term like "dog food" or "running shoes."
- The feature is available in the Walmart Connect Ad Center and through partner technology providers including Pacvue, Skai, Quartile, Teikametrics and DataCaciques, and matters most for automatic campaigns where Walmart's algorithm places the ads.
- Consultant Chris Sheldon expects cost-per-click to rise on competitive category terms while account return on ad spend drops, since brands had been buying their own branded terms that artificially inflated returns for years.

🗣️ Reddit says real shoppers now outsell your influencers 2x
LINK
|
- Reddit's Path to Purchase 2026 research found that reading first-hand consumer experiences now beats reviews from professional critics and influencers by two times in United States purchase decisions, and about two and a half times in the United Kingdom.
- Half of United States shoppers say they verify AI recommendations on Reddit, and in the same market people trust the platform to check those recommendations more than family or friends, at 60% against 53%.
- The survey polled 13,956 adults in the United States and 6,485 in the United Kingdom, all aged 18 to 65 and monthly users of social media, large language models and e-commerce sites, with fieldwork by Attest in May 2026.

🎮 Kick is opening its livestreams to your ads
LINK
|
- Kick, the livestreaming platform, launched Kick Ads on Aug. 4, opening its display, native and video inventory to advertisers through direct and programmatic buying, and is working with Google to build out its ad network.
- The platform now counts more than 100 million active users and logged over 1.5 billion hours watched in the second quarter, with gaming making up 48% of content and more than 80% of the audience aged 18 to 34.
- Kick divided its content into four brand suitability tiers-Limited, Standard, Expanded and Restricted-that brands can buy against, and is going through measurement certification with Integral Ad Science while using bot detection and AI moderation to suppress ads during flagged moments.

🍯 Honey's creator lawsuit could reshape affiliate deals
LINK
|
- A lawsuit against PayPal's Honey coupon extension has cleared a major legal hurdle and could change how affiliate deals work, after a federal judge on June 22, 2026 refused to dismiss any part of the content creators' class action.
- The case centers on a "defeat device" inside Honey that decided whether to respect stand-down rules based on a shopper's profile, using signals like account age, cashback points, and whether the browser had visited an affiliate network's own website.
- Three networks penalized Honey in January 2026, with Rakuten cutting access to about 2,000 merchants and Awin covering more than 16,000, while Honey's partnerships fell from roughly 35,000 in December 2024 to just above 28,000.

🖋️ Claude now watermarks the AI text you publish
LINK
|
- Anthropic will start adding machine-readable watermarks to text made by its new Claude AI models around the world, meeting promises the company made under the European Union's AI Act transparency code.
- The rules cover Claude models launched in the EU on or after Aug. 2, but Anthropic will turn on watermarking everywhere, spanning Claude, the Claude API, Claude Code, Claude Cowork and Claude Tag.
- The invisible mark stays with text when copied and pasted and may survive some editing, but a detected watermark only shows the content may have passed through Claude, not that Claude wrote it.
