Everything is coming into focus.
Join beehiiv live on July 16th at 1PM ET for a first look at the future of audience-led business.
This isn’t just another feature launch (though there will be plenty of those). It’s a look at a more connected future for creators and brands that are tired of juggling disconnected tools, platforms, and data.
If you care about building an audience online, this is worth your time.

💬 WhatsApp usernames open a new branding land grab
LINK
|
- WhatsApp has opened reservations for a new username system that lets its more than three billion users connect with others and message businesses without revealing their phone number, marking a fresh branding land grab.
- Creators, small businesses, and organizations can claim their existing Instagram or Facebook username on WhatsApp through a protected pre-reservation, keeping handle consistency across Meta's platforms instead of a general first-come-first-served scramble.
- An optional username key adds a second layer, requiring senders to know both the handle and a separate key value before a first message goes through, with the full feature launching country by country later in 2026.

📺 Amazon's Prime Video ads just triggered a lawsuit
LINK
|
- Australia's competition regulator has taken Amazon's local unit to court, alleging that unfair terms in its Prime subscription contracts let the company add advertising to its Prime Video streaming platform.
- The ACCC claims that between November 2023 and August 2025, Amazon Australia relied on these terms to make negative changes for over 1 million annual subscribers without offering any compensation.
- After July 2024, subscribers wanting to keep ad-free streaming had to pay an extra A$2.99 per month, even though annual subscribers had already paid A$79 upfront for the service.

💰 Google Ads just got cheaper for advertisers
LINK
|
- The average cost per lead across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads has dropped for the first time in five years, landing at $66.69 in WordStream's 2026 benchmarks report, which drew on 13,474 US campaigns.
- The fall in cost per lead came even as the average cost per click rose to $5.42, more than double the $2.32 logged a decade ago, with 87% of industries posting higher conversion rates.
- Experts tie the cheaper leads to automation tools like Performance Max and AI Max, which generate leads at a lower cost, while tariff pressures pushed automotive and retail cost per lead in the opposite direction.

🎬 TikTok's new AI agent writes your ad scripts
LINK
|
- TikTok has launched Symphony Agent, an AI system that takes a product image or campaign goal and produces ad scripts, videos, creator shortlists, and outreach invitations across three of the platform's main advertising tools with little human input.
- Inside Symphony Creative Studio, the agent makes a 12-second video in about 3 minutes and a 20-second video in roughly 5 minutes, and advertisers can request up to 3 video variations at once for A/B testing.
- Within TikTok One, the agent turns a text, PDF, or product URL input into a ready campaign brief and a shortlist of 20 creators, each with a reason for the fit, then sends batch invitations in one step.
