🚫 YouTube just cut off AI slop from ad money
LINK
|
- YouTube has changed its monetization guidelines to block ad revenue for low-quality, AI-generated material, targeting what it calls "inauthentic content" made purely for low-effort content farming through the YouTube Partner Program.
- The revised policy demonetizes three types of content: generic, repetitive videos made with AI or templates, emotionally manipulative clickbait like staged animal rescues, and AI-generated personas giving advice on finance, healthcare, or legal issues.
- The July 16 rollout carries financial weight because YouTube competes with television networks and streaming rivals for ad budgets, having recently passed Netflix in global average daily views and needing to keep premium brand sponsors from leaving.

📺 Netflix just opened its 250M viewers to you

|
- Netflix inventory is now open to every buyer on The Trade Desk's Sellers and Publishers 500+ marketplace, ending the private-deal requirement that had controlled access to the streaming service since it entered programmatic advertising in 2024.
- The change removes any minimum spend or workflow change, letting buyers reach more than 250 million global monthly active users through the same Kokai controls they already operate, alongside Netflix's existing programmatic guaranteed and private marketplace deals.
- The lower-friction path admits smaller and mid-sized buyers, and Netflix told investors programmatic buying was on course to pass 50 percent of its non-live business, with more than 4,000 active advertisers, a 70 percent yearly rise.

🔀 Google now lets you exit AI Overviews

|
- Google has published Search Console documentation for a control that lets website owners keep their pages out of AI Overviews, AI Mode, and generative AI features in Google Discover, after testing began in June 2026.
- The control sits in Search Console under Settings in a section called Search generative AI, offering a choice to include or exclude a property, with the exclude setting taking effect within 1 to 2 days.
- Excluding a site stops it appearing in those features and forgoes all traffic and impressions, yet AI Overviews count more than 2.5 billion monthly active users and AI Mode passed one billion by May 2026.

🛍️ AliExpress fined $629M over counterfeit ad problem
LINK
|
- The European Union fined Alibaba-owned AliExpress a record €550 million, or $629 million, for failing to stop the sale of illegal, unsafe and counterfeit products on its online marketplace under the Digital Services Act.
- The European Commission said AliExpress served about 193 million users in Europe last year, and its recommendation and advertising systems amplified the visibility of illegal products while its "brand authorization" program stayed understaffed and easily circumvented.
- The €550 million penalty tops the €200 million fine given to Temu earlier this year and the €120 million against X last year, and AliExpress said it would appeal the decision as disproportionate.

🎮 EA is turning FC matches into ad space
LINK
|
- Electronic Arts launched EA Advertising on June 15, 2026, opening its console, mobile, and PC games to brands through dynamic in-game placements, native ad units in sports simulations, and a proprietary ad server built for its Frostbite engine.
- EA built its pitch on frequency, saying fans play the equivalent of 23,000 NFL seasons each day in Madden NFL and complete more than 1 billion matches every month in EA SPORTS FC, across a portfolio reaching over 120 million monthly players.
- Early partners include Red Bull, which drove more than 128 million matches played and 1.2 million objectives completed in EA SPORTS FC, and Lowe's, which drove over 987,000 games played and more than 200,000 challenges completed across three titles.

Strategies & Tactics
|
> How to Use Meta Ads for Lead Generation: Test instant forms and website landing pages to find what generates leads cheapest, then only add quality-control steps once data proves a specific problem exists.
|
|
> Before you refresh that page, run this test: Diagnose why a page's clicks are falling before rewriting it, since only ranking decay responds to a refresh while zero-click capture, format shifts, and dead demand need different fixes.
