📌 Google's Preferred Source button can lift your traffic LINK
  • Google has released a new Preferred Source button that publishers can add to their sites, letting readers star a publication and then return to the page they were reading without extra steps.
  • When a user clicks the button, a page opens where they press "Add" to set the site as a Preferred Source on Google, after which they are sent back to where they left off on the publisher's site.
  • Google said people have picked more than 600,000 unique sources so far, up from 200,000 in May 2026, and that these users are twice as likely to click, driving more traffic to starred outlets.
🤖 1-in-10 web pages now show AI writing LINK
  • Pew found that roughly 10% of a random sample of 10,000 webpages showed strong signs of AI authorship in July 2026, with the share climbing past a third among pages published since ChatGPT's release.
  • Commercial sites carry most of the machine-written text, at about 10% of .com pages against 4.6% of .org and roughly 1% each for .edu and .gov, where writing serves a purpose rather than a cost.
  • Pew catalogued the tells using the Open Pangram detector: em dash use has doubled since 2023, Oxford commas are up 63%, and the words "delve" and "pivotal" appear alongside the phrase "it's not just X, it's Y".
🚩 LinkedIn's AI slop flags cut your views 40% LINK
  • LinkedIn's new "Sounds Like AI Slop" feature, which lets members privately flag content they think is inauthentic or heavily AI-generated, is cutting the views on flagged posts by 40%.
  • Hari Srinivasan, Chief Product Officer, said more than 1 million people used the feature in its first two weeks, and that safeguards are in place to stop individual feedback from unfairly targeting members.
  • LinkedIn is starting to add private messages in Post Analytics, telling members when their content has received community feedback marking it as possible "AI Slop," giving them a chance to course correct.
🎨 Patreon's new algorithm could get your work discovered LINK
  • Patreon rolled out dozens of new features on Thursday, including a redesigned recommendation system meant to help creators get discovered and connect with the fans and communities that follow their work.
  • The updated discovery system now compares a post to other posts by topic, craft, style, and theme, rather than matching creators to similar ones, a shift Patreon says will surface smaller creators too.
  • A new iOS feature called Clips turns creator videos into short, shareable clips for TikTok or Patreon's own Quips format, while video previews pull the most engaging parts of paid videos for potential fans.
🤝 Your creator ambassadors are becoming executives LINK
  • Brands are handing creators real C-Suite titles like chief content officer and chief creative officer, giving them input into strategy rather than just a signature and a paycheck, a shift from earlier gimmicky appointments.
  • Eyewear company Blenders named Jordan "The Stallion" Howlett, who has 50 million followers, its chief content officer in a multi-year deal, its biggest yet, with his first major video exceeding all internal KPIs.
  • Recent examples include comedian Jack Shane as chief creative officer of German candy company Katjes and Nadya Okamoto as chief creator officer at investment platform Cherub, though some appointments remain partnerships with fancier titles.

Strategies & Tactics

> How to improve Google Ads lead quality with CRM data: Feed sales outcomes back into Google Ads so it optimizes for qualified leads and actual revenue instead of raw form-fill volume.
> Creator fit beats follower count for brands: Here’s what the numbers say: Brands now rank a creator's suitability above follower count, yet still pay largely based on followers, revealing a gap between stated priorities and compensation.
> What the teams getting the most from AI do differently: Teams that gain most from AI already work in fast, self-directed cross-functional groups, so fix your slow approval-heavy workflows before blaming the tools.
> The Reddit cloud 100: ranking B2B SaaS subreddits by AI visibility: B2B software subreddits get cited in AI answers based on steady user discussion, not company size, so brands should nurture active communities rather than merely create them.
> 1 Campaign, 100+ Ads, 70% engagement: inside Wella’s AI audio success with AudioStack: AI generated one hair-care script into 100 location- and audience-specific audio ads, driving 70% of listeners to act on a hard-to-message category.
> What is the success metric and KPI for AEO?: Measure AEO (AI answer optimization) by revenue and proxies like branded search, not vanity rankings, since direct clicks are untrackable and attribution fails.
