🚫 Apple now lets apps dangle discounts when you cancel
LINK
|
- Apple has launched Retention Messaging, a tool that lets app developers show personalized messages and discounts to users at the moment they try to cancel a subscription.
- Set up through App Store Connect, the messages appear in the cancellation flow with text, images, or a special offer, and developers can build up to 10 messages per app, each tied to one or more subscriptions.
- Unlike the Win-Back Offers from 2024, which targeted people after they left, this feature reaches subscribers before they finish canceling, with a Retention Messaging API, available by request, picking which message each subscriber sees.

🏷️ Instagram's AI labels are a new headache for your brand
LINK
|
- Instagram has expanded its AI disclosure system with separate labels for individual AI posts and for whole accounts built around synthetic people, turning disclosure into a new approval hurdle for brands and agencies.
- The platform requires users to flag realistic AI video or audio, such as cloned voices or generated people in footage, while AI-written captions, scripts and still images stay exempt under current self-disclosure rules.
- An "AI-generated profile" label carries a distribution penalty: accounts flagged without proper disclosure can stop being recommended to new users until fixed or appealed, so Hootsuite advises adding an AI check to creator briefs and approvals.

📈 Google is sending you more organic clicks again
LINK
|
- Google sent more organic clicks to outside websites over the summer, with the share of U.S. desktop searches leading to such clicks climbing from 39.74% in July to 46.11% in September.
- That September figure was the highest across the 15-month study, while zero-click searches dropped to their lowest since March and clicks to Google-owned properties fell to 14.19%.
- Semrush's report, which looked at desktop activity in the U.S. and 32 European countries but left out mobile, said the rise should help websites that rely on Google Search for traffic, even as AI tool usage kept growing.

🕵️ Meta's tracker shows up in 100 web-tracking settlements
LINK
|
- US companies are set to pay more than $1.4 billion in 2026 to settle class actions claiming their websites and apps shared personal data without consent, with Meta's advertising tracker named in 100 of the settlements Privado AI studied.
- The software firm reviewed public settlements agreed between January 2025 and August 2026, finding healthcare providers made up nearly two in three defendants and that 1960s-era wiretapping laws, not modern privacy statutes, carried most of the legal weight.
- Old phone-tapping laws let any individual sue and set fixed damages, which drove the cases, though a new California law from January 2027 shuts off one claim type that covered only 3% of the settlements studied.

🎙️ Survey reveals why podcast measurement gaps stall ad spending
LINK
|
- A new Oxford Road survey found that more than half of brand advertisers rank measurement gaps among their top three challenges holding back spending on podcasting, audio and creator media.
- The 57% figure anchors the "What Brands Want 2026" report, with measurement worries hitting hardest among the biggest buyers: over 90% of brands holding the largest media budgets named it a top concern.
- Respondents disagree on how networks count downloads and impressions, and while 59% raised podcast and audio budgets in 2026, only 40% expect increases in 2027.
